Physics, chemistry and biology are requirements for this career

Pursue science until 12th standard

You need to score well in the national medical exam to apply for relevant university courses

Appear for NEET UG Exam

Get a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree

This is a 4 year program with an additional year of mandatory internship

– Dental anatomy – Microbiology – Oral Medicine – General Surgery – Preventive Dentistry – Endodontics

Indian universities to study dentistry:

There are lot of deemed universities that teach BDS.

After your bachelor’s, you can work at a hospital (public or private) or open your own clinic

Practice as a professional dentist

Pursue a Master’s degree

This can allow you to get more qualifications and become specialised in one field

Some of the specializations you can pursue are:

– Periodontics – Prosthodontics – Orthodontics

Salary range for a dentist- Rs. 4 to 50 lakhs per annum

The salary has a wide range as it depends on the skill level &  specialization of the dentist, and if they established their own clinic.
