  1. Get hold of the ‘Student Registration Guide for SAT and SAT Subject Tests’ either from your school or on the official website of the College Board.
  2. The guide will contain the SAT registration form. You can also download the SAT 2022 application form from the website.

SAT Exam Fee 2022: SAT Test Cost, Payment Method, Cancelation & Refund Policy

Before you head to the College Board website to fill out the SAT registration form 2022, it is important that you understand the steps to make the payment for the SAT and the various methods of payment available to you.

Please note: No payments should be made in the form of cash for the SAT exam. 

SAT registration fee for international students (including Indian students) is to be made either using online modes of payment or by sending the fee via a demand draft.

The fee for applying for the SAT exam is $109. So, the SAT exam fees in Indian rupees would amount to approximately Rs. 8,800 (subject to change in conversion rates). Here is a detailed breakdown of the SAT registration fee.

Additional SAT Exam Fees 2022

Apart from the base or original SAT exam fee, there are certain additional costs that are added to SAT registration, especially for students who live outside the United States of America. Below mentioned are some of the additional fees that you should be aware of before applying for the SATs.

The Non-U.S Regional Fee for SATs

SAT registration for Indian students differs from that of U.S citizens. For Indian students, there is an additional fee for all the non-U.S regional citizens that is added to the original SAT exam fee of $60. The non-U.S regional fee amounts to $49 for Indian students applying for the SAT exam. A total of both these fees amounts to $109.

SAT Cancellation Fee for Students

Think well before you decide to cancel your SAT registration. Cancelling your SAT registration is not free and comes with a cancellation fee for all students. A cancellation fee of $25 is charged when you choose to cancel your registration at least five days before the examination date. If you cancel your SAT registration any time after the prescribed deadline, then you have to pay an additional $10 amounting to a total of $35 as a cancellation fee for SAT.

SAT Re-Scheduling Fee for Students

You can choose to reschedule your SAT exam dates.

If you change the date before the regular deadline then the rescheduling fee amounts to $25.

If you are late and exceed the regular change deadline, then you will have to pay a sum of $35 as a fee.

SAT Exam Refund Policy 

Students who change the date of their SAT exam 5 days prior to the original date of examination are eligible to receive a $10 refund. In any other case, students might not be entitled to a refund. 

SAT Score Services and Fees for Students

If you wish to avail of exclusive services in terms of the scores obtained by you in the exam, then you are eligible to do so against a fee payment.

  • You can order 4 test report scores for free if availed up to 9 days after your SAT exam date.
  • If you want more test report scores apart from the 4 mentioned above, then you have to pay $12 per report.
  • If you wish to avail of old SAT score reports then you can do so with a fee of $31 per report.

You can get your score reports via phone calls as well. In such a case, you should call the customer service number of the College Board which will cost you a fee of $15.

SAT Fee Payment Methods

Paying for the registration fee for the SAT exam is quite flexible with multiple payment options available to you. Below mentioned is a list of payment methods that you can choose from to pay your SAT exam registration fee.

  • PayPal – Just like any other international transaction requirement, you can pay the SAT exam registration fee using PayPal. If you are an existing user of PayPal, this can be one of the smoothest payment methods. Alternatively, you may also choose to open a new account on PayPal before moving on to paying the registration fee for SAT. This payment service is available in all countries except Ghana.
  • Credit Card – Another convenient mode of payment for SAT registration fees is using credit cards. You can choose to pay via credit cards such as American Express, Mastercard, Visa, Discover, Diners Club and JCB.
  • Cheque or Money Order – The final option for the payment method for SAT exam registration fee is via cheque or money order. All cheques or money orders should be payable to “The College Board” and must be drawn on banks of the U.S only. Any alternatives will not be accepted and will be returned.
